Life Transitions, Grief, and Stress
Certain transitions such as moves, changes in identity / roles around work, and changes in core relationships / breakups are known to be the most stressful events for the mind and unconscious. When everything changes all at once, the interwoven structures / processes / meanings get disrupted and challenged all at once leading to large strains on the mind’s attempt to maintain homeostasis. Amidst this disruption, unformulated and uncontrollable “anxiety” can emerge, leading the person to feel confused and overwhelmed by the blend of emotions and impulses coming from their unconscious. This can be highly uncomfortable and disruptive with the person just trying their best to maintain self-cohesion and control. This is a very common and challenging process that is par for the course of life. Things get bumpy and life teaches you: sometimes via hard lessons and expected winds in the road. This is part of what makes your story rich and dramatic, with all hues and colors, aka “learning the blues.” We’ll help you through these large events, guiding your navigation as we have co-captained many others.
